Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

PregnantWise ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by PregnantWise.

This App is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

2. Information We Collect

  • Personal Health Data: Due date, weight, water intake, nutrition logs, symptoms, and mood.
  • Partner Data: Information you voluntarily share with your connected partner.
  • Authentication Data: If you sign in with Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider. We do not receive or store your password from these services.
  • Device Information: Device model, OS version, and unique identifiers (for push notifications).

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To Provide Services: Calculating pregnancy milestones and nutrition targets.
  • Partner Sync: Sharing your authorized data with your linked partner account.
  • Improvement: With your consent, we collect anonymized usage analytics (e.g., which features are used most, common cravings) to improve the app. Analytics data is consent-based, batched, and does not include any personally identifiable health information.

4. Partner Sharing (Joint Data)

IMPORTANT: By using the "Partner Link" feature, you explicitly consent to share your selected health data with your connected partner.

  • You control what is shared via "Sharing Preferences".
  • You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting the partner in Settings.
  • When you disconnect a partner, their access to your data is revoked immediately. Your partner will be notified of the disconnection. Previously viewed data cannot be "unshared," but no further data will be accessible to the disconnected partner.

5. Data Security

We implement Row Level Security (RLS) and encryption to protect your data. However, no security system is impenetrable. You are responsible for keeping your device and Partner Code secure.

The insights, nutrition targets, and suggestions provided are for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your data (Right to be Forgotten).
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.

8. Crash Reporting & Error Tracking

We use Sentry for crash reporting to improve app stability.

Privacy Protections:

  • Personal Health Information (PHI) is automatically scrubbed before transmission.
  • Fields like pregnancy_week, weight, symptoms, food_name, and due_date are redacted.
  • Session replay sampling is reduced to protect health-sensitive screens.
  • Crash data is anonymized and used solely for bug fixing and app improvement.
  • No identifying health information is transmitted to third parties.

9. Guest Mode

You may use PregnantWise without creating an account ("Guest Mode").

Guest Mode Limitations:

  • 3 food searches per day
  • 2 food logs per day
  • 2 water entries per day
  • Limited analytics (today only)
  • No partner connection, PDF export, meal planning, or shopping list

Guest Data:

  • Stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage.
  • Not synced to our servers unless you convert to a full account.
  • Automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.

If you create an account, your guest data will be migrated to your new account.

10. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications for:

  • Meal reminders (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Water intake reminders
  • Supplement reminders
  • Weekly pregnancy progress updates
  • Partner activity notifications

You can customize or disable notifications in Settings > Preferences. Quiet hours can be configured to suppress notifications during sleep. We use Expo Push Notification service to deliver notifications to your device.

11. Account Deletion & Data Retention

Soft Delete (30-Day Grace Period):

  • When you delete your account, it enters a 30-day soft-delete period.
  • Your account is deactivated but data is preserved.
  • You can restore your account by logging back in within this period.
  • Partner connections are hidden but not deleted during this period.

After 30 Days:

  • Private recipes are permanently deleted.
  • Public recipes are anonymized (creator shown as "Deleted User").
  • Personal health data is permanently removed.
  • Aggregate anonymized data may be retained for analytics.

Immediate Deletion (Right to Be Forgotten):

  • You may request immediate permanent deletion via Settings > Account.
  • This option is available during the deletion process.
  • All data is permanently removed with no recovery option.
  • This complies with GDPR Article 17 and CCPA requirements.

Data Export:

  • Request a full export of your data at any time via Settings > Account.
  • Your data will be provided in a machine-readable format.
  • Export links are valid for 24 hours for security.

Data Retention Periods:

  • Active account data - retained until you delete your account
  • Deleted account (soft delete) - 30 days before permanent deletion
  • Guest mode data - 90 days of inactivity before automatic deletion
  • Nutrition logs and health data - retained until account deletion
  • Crash reports (via Sentry) - 90 days
  • Anonymized aggregate data - retained indefinitely for analytics

12. Offline Mode & Data Sync

PregnantWise supports offline-first architecture:

  • Data is cached locally for offline access.
  • Changes made offline are queued and synced when connection is restored.
  • Sync conflicts are resolved automatically (latest timestamp wins).
  • Your data remains accessible even without internet connectivity.

13. Subscription & Billing

Subscription processing is handled by RevenueCat:

  • We receive anonymized purchase status, not payment details.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play handle all payment processing.
  • Your payment information is never stored on our servers.
  • The "Couples Plan" allows sharing premium access with your connected partner.

  • Supabase - Database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy)
  • RevenueCat - Subscription management (revenuecat.com/privacy)
  • Sentry - Crash reporting with PHI scrubbing (sentry.io/privacy)
  • Expo - Push notification delivery (expo.dev/privacy)
  • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In - Authentication (we receive name and email only; passwords are never shared with us)
  • Apple/Google - Push notifications and app distribution
